For the last five years, you’ve heard us refer you to , and our reporters refer to themselves as being part of the KPCC and LAist newsroom. But the truth is, this has caused confusion among many of our listeners and supporters — and, if I’m being honest, a little confusion among us as well!
This new unified, cohesive brand will bring together our radio (LAist ), digital news site (), and podcasts (LAist Studios) under one name that clearly identifies what we are all about: serving Southern California the news and information that you count on every day.
I want to assure you that all of your favorite shows from KPCC and NPR aren’t going anywhere.

Larry Mantle is a radio interview call-in show host in Southern California.
Career
He has been the host of AirTalk with Larry Mantle on National Public Radio-member station KPCC, FM, since April 1st, AirTalk is the longest-running daily talk show in Southern California. Fridays at noon, Mantle hosts the movie review and interview program FilmWeek on AirTalk.
He was also the program director of KPCC in the s, before it came under the umbrella of American Public Media.
Mantle was one of the champions of the KPCC-Advanced Power Management merger that created Southern California Public Radio. Mantle grew up in Inglewood and Hollywood, California, and is a graduate of Hollywood High School.
He has a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, California. Mantle is married to Speech-Language Pathologist Kristen (Hernandez) Mantle. They have a teenage son, Desmond.
Mantle is also a Christian.

Pasadena, Calif., April 13, -LAist (formerly KPCC) announced today that midday host, Austin Cross, will be taking over hosting duties on Friday for one of their tentpole daily programs, AirTalk with Larry Mantle.
“AirTalk” airs after “Morning Edition” weekdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on LAist Larry Mantle, the longtime AirTalk host and creator, will continue to host the program Monday through Thursday, with Austin taking over hosting on Friday.
