Hagai Levi is an Israeli film and television director, writer, editor, producer and critic.
Career
Levi is best known for creating, directing and producing the television drama BeTipul and for producing In Treatment, Home Box Offices American adaptation of the show. He also wrote for the drama series Shabatot Vehagim and edited several telenovelas. In February , the American cable channel Showtime ordered a television pilot for a series co-created by Levi.
Titled The Affair, the series focused on relationships told from the points of view of both men and women.
The first episodes of the series was also co-created by fellow In Treatment writer/producer Sarah Treem, but Levi later retired from writing the series, stating that the series took a path different from the one he had envisioned and that Treem was therefore the best person to author the show.

Along with Nir Bergman, he won the Israeli Academys Best Director award for directing BeTipuls first season.
Born in Israel in , Levi created and directed the highly acclaimed Israeli TV series Be'Tipul, (), later adapted to the HBO's series "In Treatment" (), which won several Emmy and Golden Globe awards; Levi was also an executive producer of In Treatment and directed several episodes. Be'Tipul has been adapted and produced in another 16 countries, including Italy, Russia, The Netherlands, Argentina, Brazil, Japan and more. Hagai Levi is an Israeli director and film producer. Born in kibbutz Sha’alvim, Levi is a graduate of Bar Ilan University’s Department of Psychology and Philosophy, and Tel Aviv University’s Department of Film and Television Studies. Levi took his early professional steps as a writer and critic for the now-defunct daily paper, Hadashot and local Tel Aviv magazines, Tel Aviv Times (‘zman Tel Aviv’) and The City (‘Ha’ir.’) In he directed his debut feature film, August Snow and in , created and took part in the making of Short Stories about Love – a nine-part film anthology that included, amongst others, Malka Lev Adom (‘red queen’), Shuly’s Fiance, Gotta Have Heart, and Hatulot Hara’am (‘thunder pussycats’). Levi next produced three documentaries, It Kinda Scares me and Aviv – both directed by Tomer Heymann, and Timna Rosenheimer’s My Sister.
