Shalya Tantra was later named as the Sushruta Samhita (have details about the ancient medical science of India, well known as the Ayurveda). Maharishi Shushruta is the author of Sushruta Samhita in Sanskrit language and had described all the amazing surgical procedures with the accuracy and curative efficacy. His great findings have become an essential component of the Indian culture.

Maharishi Shushruta, a great sage, is commonly considered as the son of wise Visvamitra (According to the scholar’s, he was not the Visvamitra of the Vedic period). Today we will learn about Sushruta, a great physician and the father of ancient medicine, the father of plastic surgery. We find evidence of the development of medical science in ancient India in various ways, such as from the Atharva Veda, from the Ramayana, from the Mahabharata, from the Charak Samhita, where we can see how prosperous our India was at that time. Everything that has been discovered so far in the world today has shown a new direction in science, but we can say that it is nothing compared to the ancient times. But the sad thing is that all the information about ancient medical science and Ayurveda in the course of time is not so clear today. It seems to be lost somewhere in the middle of time. But what we get about this now is little.

The book written by Sushruta is called Sushruta Sanhita. It is mainly written in Sanskrit. He was an ancient physician. According to the Mahabharata, he was the son of Bishwamitra. His birth date is approximately 5th-6th century BC. Sushruta received his knowledge of medicine from Vaidyaraj Dhanvantari. According to Hindu scriptures, Dhanvantari is said to be the doctor of the gods. It is also heard that Sushruta acquired the knowl

Sushruta, often referred to as the “Father of Indian Medicine” or the “Father of Plastic Surgery,” was an influential physician in ancient India.  Although he likely lived around the 7th or 6th century BCE (some even speculate as early as BCE), Sushtruta is still revered today for his influence in the critical development of Ayurvedic surgical procedures. [1]  It should also be mentioned that most scholars do not accept the claim that the physician Sushruta is associated with the Sushruta mentioned in the Mahabharata, the son of the sage Visvamitra. [2]

Sushruta’s work shares a wealth of medical techniques, but his own life and background still remains somewhat of a mystery; not even his bi
